Industrial Y type pipeline strainers remove debris from compatible liquid, gas and steam lines to protect pumps, control valves, flow meters and downstream equipment. Select size, mesh, body material and flange class to suit the service.
Y-Type Pipeline Strainers are designed to remove solid particles and debris from liquid, gas and steam pipelines, helping protect downstream equipment and maintain reliable process operation.
Y-type body for compact inline filtration
Removable mesh / perforated screen for easy cleaning
Y-Type Pipeline Strainers are designed to remove solid particles and debris from liquid, gas and steam pipelines, helping protect downstream equipment and maintain reliable process operation.
The Y-shaped body houses a removable mesh or perforated screen that captures unwanted particles while allowing the process fluid to pass with low pressure drop. The screen can be removed easily for cleaning or maintenance.
Available in sizes from 1″ (DN25) to 12″ (DN300), with larger sizes on request, the strainer can be supplied with Class 150 / 300 flanged connections and SS304 / SS316 screen options. It is suitable for protecting pumps, valves, flow meters, heat exchangers and other pipeline equipment in water, steam, chemical, oil and utility applications.
How it works
Working Principle
Process fluid enters the Y-shaped body and passes through a removable mesh or perforated screen. Solid debris is retained on the screen while the filtered liquid, gas or steam continues downstream.
01
Flow enters the body
The pipeline medium enters through the selected flanged connection and is directed toward the screen.
02
Debris is retained
Particles larger than the screen openings collect inside the Y-leg while the process medium passes through.
03
Element is serviced
The cover or drain arrangement allows collected material to be removed and the screen to be cleaned or replaced.

Questions & Answers
What does a Y-Type Pipeline Strainer remove?
It captures solid debris and impurities larger than the selected screen openings before they reach downstream equipment.
Can it be used for steam or gas?
Yes. It can be selected for compatible liquid, gas and steam service subject to correct pressure, temperature, material and screen selection.
How is the screen cleaned?
The Y-leg cover provides access for removal, cleaning or replacement of the screen; a drain arrangement is available on request.
Which sizes and flange classes are available?
The standard range is 1 inch to 12 inches, with larger sizes on request and ANSI / ASME B16.5 Class 150 or 300 flanged connections.
What information is needed for selection?
Provide the medium, flow rate, line size, pressure, temperature, allowable pressure drop, particle size, screen requirement, flange class and material compatibility.
